Increasing Community Participation in Steel-Chemical Industrial Areas in Plant Cultivation on Land Minimal Land

The existence of industry is the main source of life for the people of Cilegon. Of around 101,000 people of productive age, around 29% of them work in industry. Data for 2000 shows that a significant contribution to building the economy of Cilegon City is the processing industry sector (64.01%). The aims and targets for achieving KKN-PPM activities are: Increasing cooperation between the surrounding community and the women's dharma of the Cilegon Steel-Chemical industry, Banten; Improving community skills in how to plant crops on minimal land; Utilizing industrial waste materials HDPE and LDPE; Introducing farming technology hidro-aerophonic using media made from industrial waste HDPE and LDPE; Creating a green environment (green environment) in the Cilegon Banten steel-chemical industrial area; Facilitate students to improve their ability to work together to solve problems in non-academic community environments. The process of achieving the goals and targets of the KKN-PPM program is supported by involving 3 Field Supervisor Lecturers (DPL) and 45 students in 3 Districts, 15 people each from multi-disciplinary disciplines. Collaboration with partners, namely the Cilegon Department of Cleanliness and Environment, has facilitated the implementation of this activity. The methods used are: 1) Survey of potential locations and briefing for KKN-PPM participants; 2) Counseling and training to the community on how to plant in small areas of land using Hydro-Aerophonic techniques made from HDPE and LDPE waste as planting media; 3) Assistance and monitoring of follow-up activities involving community groups and industrial women's dharma at the location; 4) At the end of the activity, a workshop will be held and the results will be socialized in front of the community and local stakeholders. The results of the activities show increased community participation and productivity in order to make the steel-chemical industrial area green and environmentally friendly in Cilegon, Banten.
